Gregory Spears

Greg Spears is a senior corporate affairs and media relations executive with 25 years’ experience in property, IT, telecommunications, engineering and mining.

Prior to joining Symbol Strategic Communications, Greg was General Manager Public Relations at Telstra, working across Finance and Strategy, Regulatory Affairs, Telstra Wholesale, Sustainability and Regional Affairs, Media, Marketing, Sports and Entertainment.

Previously, as Senior Manager Media Relations at Stockland for five years, he was responsible for developing and executing Stockland’s national media relations strategy, spanning the company’s diversified property interests in Residential, Commercial Property (Retail, Office, Logistics & Business Parks), and Retirement Living.

He’s accustomed to working closely with executive leaders to deliver though-leadership campaigns with compelling narratives to support key business objectives. He’s also experienced in ASX reporting, the announcement of major capital transactions, product launches,issues and crisis management.

Prior to joining Stockland, Greg led the media relations and communications function at Vodafone for eight years, where he was immersed in all financial and operational aspects of the business, most notably Vodafone’s merger with Hutchison Whampoa (3) to form Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA).

Greg has a combination of in-house and agency experience and has worked for leading companies in Australia, Europe and the US.He specialises in corporate reputation management and the development of integrated PR, social media and marketing campaigns to build and develop brand awareness and consideration.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Arts, Applied Communications, Degree from Western Sydney University.
